Mohammad : Hello! i'm very pleased to have the chance to talk with you! i'm a pharmacist and I plan to take the Foreign Pharmacy graduate Equivalency Examination "FPGEE" next December which is held inside the US, I want to ask if I wanted to travel for the exam would I apply for a student visa? and if not, what kind of visa should I apply for? thanks in advence |
| Inger Tangborn: Dear Mohammad, Thank you for writing -- that''s an excellent question! It is not necessary to apply for a student visa in order to take the examination. Rather, you may apply for a regular Visitor''s (B1/B2)Visa, which allows you to travel both as a tourist or for professional purposes, like sitting for an exam. I hope that''s helpful. Islam : Is it easy to study and work in US at the same time ? |
| Inger Tangborn: Dear Islam, Thank you for writing and thank you very much for your interest in studying in the United States. Foreign students enrolled at U.S. universities are allowed to work, but there are some restrictions, particularly for working off-campus. Once you are accepted at a university, you should check with their International Students Office more information on the school''s employment policies. Best of luck! |

| Inger Tangborn: Dear Amr, You ask a very good question: When it comes to applying for a Visitor''s Visa to the U.S., there are no required documents to be submitted from the U.S. relatives or contacts. | Inger Tangborn: Hi, Andrew: Thank you for writing. I am sorry that we could not issue a visa to you at the time of your recent application but appreciate your question because it is one often raised: There are no specific documents required to apply for a Visitor''s visa to the United States. Rather, the consular officer by law must be convinced of an applicant''s strong ties to his or her country of residence at the time of the application and interview. Quite often, it is difficult for our younger applicants who have not yet had the opportunity to become established in a profession or to travel abroad to demonstrate these ties. I can assure you, however, that each officer takes every applicant seriously and makes the best decision possible in accordance with U.S. immigration law. I hope you are able to visit the United States in the future. |

Michael Mahfouze : Ms. Tangborn First, I'd like to Thank all the people who been working on this new service because I think it's great idea. My question is about this current scholarship program offered to Egyptian university students. Why the deadline of applying applications is being extended not just one time but TWO. According to the information I have about the last program which was the MEPI there were alot of applicants like 450 for only 10 places or so i was told in the e-mail,But they also kept extended the deadline. So, WHY? Thank You very much for your time. |

| Inger Tangborn: Dear Eman, Many prospective students choose to visit a number of colleges and universities before applying for a student visa to their chosen school. The visa category for visitors is a B1/B2, which differs, of course, from the F-1 visa required for students. After visiting, you will need to return to Egypt to apply for a student visa. Sally : in my interview in the embassy the counselor give me an NIV# for administrative process. Every time i try to check my NIV case status online I get a message saying " we were not able to identify your #" why i can't acess my NIV case status? |

| Inger Tangborn: عزيزي رامي. لا يسعدنا أكثر من الترحيب بالزوار فى الولايات المتحدة. ان أفضل تجربة للشخص هى التجربة الخاصة بزيارة بلد أجنبي و التعرف على شعبه. وينبغي ان تعرف انه للحصول على تأشيرة للولايات المتحدة لابد من اثبات وجود روابط قوية سواء اقتصادية او عائلية او وظيفية. وعلى الرغم من عدم مقدرة بعض المتقدمين على اثبات هذه الروابط، فإننا نرحب بكل المتقدمين للحصول على التأشيرة. |

Sameh Wagih : مساء الخير لقد تم رفصى العام الماضى دون اعلامى السبب ودون ان يرى القنصل اى ورق رسمى احضرته كما طلب منى هل يمكن ان احصل على قيزا سياحه للولايات المتحده هذا العام حتى استطيع حضور حفل زفاف اختى ام سيتم رفضى كالمره السابقه دون اى اسباب انا طالب وبأدرس فى علوم الحاسبات |
| Inger Tangborn: عزيزي سامح. لقد أثرت نقطة هامة جدا وذلك لوجود اعتقاد انه قد يتم رفض طلب للتأشيرة دون ابداء اسباب الرفض. ولهذا السبب تقدم القنصلية كتيب يشرح باللغة العربية والإنجليزية البند 214B من قانون الهجرة الأمريكي. و ينفرد قانون الهجرة الأمريكي بإعتبار كل متقدم للحصول على تأشيرة شخصا لديه نيةالهجرة. و يمكن تجاوز هذا الإعتبار باثبات روابط قوية بمقر اقامتك. وأتمنى ان يكون لديك فرصة لزيارة الولايات المتحدة فى المستقبل. |

| Inger Tangborn: Dear Mohamed, Thank you for raising this issue with us: We would like you to know, however, that more than 90% of the non-immigrant visas issued in Cairo are received within 3 business days of the interview! For others, there are sometimes delays, but we work very hard to reduce these as we understand the importance of timely travel to our visitors who are businesspeople, students, and others. We always advise our applicants not to make confirmed travel plans until they actually receive their visa. Also, please remember to apply early! It''s best to apply at three months prior to your planned date of travel. With best regards, |

| Inger Tangborn: عزيزي شرف، شكرا على سؤالك الوجيه. العمل بالولايات المتحدة مسموح به و الدراسة بالولايات المتحدة أمر تشجعه الولايات المتحدة. وخلال العام الماضي، منحت السفارة أكثر من 2000 تأشيرة دراسة و تبادل طلاب و زوار أكادميين. ويوجد العديد من المتخصصين المصريين كالأطباء و المهندسين مثلا، ممن يساهمون بشكل كبير فى مجال الحياة الوظيفية فى الولايات المتحدة. وتتطلب هذه الوظائف تقديم طلب رسمي من جانب الشركات الأمريكية الى وزارة الأمن القومي الأمريكي Department of Homeland Security . |
