United States Contributes to Victims of Violence in Egypt
November 24, 2011
U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne W. Patterson announced an initial U.S. donation of LE 600,000 (US$100,000) to provide humanitarian assistance to victims of Egypt’s political violence this week.
“The American people have been deeply moved by the violence in Egypt and want to help,” said Ambassador Patterson. “Many of those given emergency treatment this week will require additional care.”
The U.S. contribution will be conveyed through an international relief organization with established strong relations with the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Egyptian Red Crescent and the hospitals and NGOs providing care to any victims of the violence throughout the country.
