Successful Conclusion of USAID-Sponsored Training of Health Care Executives

Successful Conclusion of USAID-Sponsored Training of Health Care Executives

CAIRO, Sept. 22, 2011— U.S. Ambassador Anne Patterson joined the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, H.E. Dr. Amr Helmy, to mark the completion of a two-year Egypt-U.S. partnership to improve healthcare in Egypt by training more than 180 Egyptian health care executives in advanced leadership and management skills.

The event celebrated the success of a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) and the Harvard School of Public Health, supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and local and international pharmaceutical companies in providing world class executive education from the Harvard School of Public Health to MOHP hospital and senior managers.

“While there are many components to a health system, it is people who make reform happen. An investment in your human capacity development is an investment that will pay off in better health outcomes for the people served”, said Ambassador Patterson.

“To the graduates here today, and to those who graduated from the earlier sessions, I wish you the best as you further your professional development and career plans and begin to apply what you have learned”, said Ambassador Patterson in her remarks as she congratulated the participants for the “significant accomplishment in the complex environment of health care service delivery.  We hope others around the world will learn from your experiences and follow in your footsteps.”

Financial support for the Ministry of Health and Population / Harvard program was provided by USAID; Arab Companies for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA); Egyptian International Pharmaceutical Industries Company (EIPICO); Pharco Corporation, and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).
