Ambassador Patterson Launches Trade Facilitation Forum
February 6, 2013
Alexandria – More than 200 businessmen and women attended the U.S. Business Support Forum on February 5, a program hosted by the U.S. Embassy and sponsored by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce to share information about U.S. Government programs to assist the Egyptian business community and increase trade opportunities.
“To speak frankly, some of our initiatives focused on providing access-to-finance for SMEs through partnerships with local banks, have been under-utilized to date,” remarked U.S. Ambassador Anne Patterson during the forum. “But we believe that if people have good ideas, they should be able to get loans to finance those ideas, regardless of their backgrounds. These innovators deserve our full support, because they are the ones who are creating new opportunities to help to move the society and the economy forward.”
Following remarks and presentations, representatives were available for questions and answers on the following featured organizations and programs: the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the United States Agency for International Development – Development Credit Authority, the U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service – Export Credit Guarantee Program (
GSM-102), the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.
