Schedule an Appointment
To better serve customers and reduce waiting times, you must SCHEDULE AN ONLINE APPOINTMENT for non-emergency services like submitting a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) application, U.S. passport application, and notarial.
If you appear at the ACS Unit with an appointment for a service different from the one you need, you will be asked to re-schedule your appointment for the needed service. For example, you cannot make an appointment for a passport renewal service when what you need is a notarial service.
If you need more than one type of service, you must make separate appointments for each service. For example, if you need to both renew your passport and get a notarial, you must make two separate appointments. If the multiple appointments are at different times on the same day, appear for the earlier appointment, and all services will be provided at that time. In other words, if you have an appointment for a passport renewal at 9:00 and an appointment for a notarial at 10:00, appear at 9:00, and we will provide both services at that time.
Please show up to your appointment on time. Applicants who are more than 15 minutes late to their appointments will be turned away and told to make another appointment. Applicants who are more than 30 minutes early for their appointments will have to wait until their scheduled time to be seen. No exceptions are made.
If there are no available appointments online and you require an emergency appointment, please send an email to CONSULARCAIROACS@STATE.GOV and write in the subject line “EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT REQUEST.” In the body of the email detail your reason for requesting an emergency appointment and include your name, passport number, phone number, and requested service. At the discretion of the ACS Unit, emergency appointments will be made available. If you do not hear back from the ACS Unit within 48 business hours regarding your emailed emergency appointment request, then you do not qualify for an emergency appointment and you should schedule your appointment online.
- Each family member seeking a service related to passports or birth registration should make an individual appointment.
- You may schedule for only one appointment time in the event you need multiple notarials.
- After setting an appointment online, a confirmation page will appear on your screen. Please print this page. You will only be allowed to enter upon showing this confirmation page at the gate.
- If you would like an earlier appointment than the one you scheduled but none is available, please feel free to check back often as we sometimes have cancellations. If you see a slot open up, please book it and then be sure to cancel your later one so as to avoid any confusion.
